French Exit
French Exit A Tragedy of Manners By deWitt, Patrick, 1975- Book - 2018

I very much enjoyed reading The Sisters Brothers, and perhaps my mistake was reading it first and this after, because I found this to be a much slighter read. I struggled to care much about any of the characters and their shallow hedonistic lives, though it is possible to feel sympathy for the children of the moneyed who are shipped off to private schools. Anecdotal, episodic, with various eccentric characters floating in and out, I found the best parts involved a medium and a cat. It is witty, but has not quite enough depth, in my view, to carry a novel.
