Ringo is not just another ordinary bloke on the planet: he was 'one of the best two drummers in Liverpool,' when he began. I enjoyed the very first part of it most: what Liverpool looked like in the first few years after the Big War. Ringo took a good photo, from the get go. What I missed was: what happened to Rory? There are plenty of good fotos of this band, and it seems they were having the time of their lives. How come they didn't go over the top like the Beatles? Did someone need to ask Ritchie that one? ( I can think of two possible answers: writing their own songs; and, Brian Epstein) Also, Ringo knew many famous musicians who have died already. What made him a survivor? Mere serendipity? Also, concerning the fotos themselves, the accidental lens effects wore thin on me before reaching the end of this truly massive book.

I liked this book. I enjoyed the reading the stories behind some of the photos, seeing some great shots of the other Beatles and the early photos of Ringo.

I really enjoyed this book, not only for the photographs, but for the way Ringo presents his work and his life; he is just another bloke on this planet. Even though his life is extraordinary, he seems very down to earth.
