It took me about 200 pages to get into the book and I almost gave up, but I'm glad I didn't. Once the book picked up and the narrative got going, it was a really fun read. The only thing I have to say is that the book didn't need 3 or 4 plotlines, 2 would have been enough

Locked On --- by --- Tom Clancey.
“Locked On” is another one of those “gung ho” type of novels being churned out in bulk by authors bent on selling a lot of books and making the big buck: we should all strike oil in our back yards. . And they are quite successful at it too; making the big buck at it. Obviously there a big market for this kind of novel adventure writing. And this is a reflection of what’s going on in the movies and on the gaming screen.
“Locked On” has all the action. Someone steals two nuclear bombs and plans to use them against the Russians. Those nasty Russians are no longer quite as nasty as they were in the cold war days of yore: the real nasties now are those nasty Islamists bent on sending the population of Moscow to infidel oblivion. All horror is averted by our heroes a few seconds before the ultimate doom. Shades of the heroine tied across the railroad tracks saved by the hero just in the nick of time. Outrageously testosterone charged?

I just love Tom Clancy books and have enjoyed most of them with his co-authors. At least the Jack Ryan story continues for awhile.

It was entertaining and I like the Jack Ryan Jr. character. I hope there are more books with him as the main character. I do agree with an earlier posted comment about Tom pushing his political agenda. If you are liberal, you will probably not like this book.

Not as complex as some of Clancy's older titles, but not as gruesome, either. A good read if you like action.

The old Clancy writing is returning with this book.

I had high hopes for this book, unfortunately it did not meet them.
This is an list book, wher the author or his ghost writer produce a list of themes and ideas and then see how many they can fit into the book.

All in all it is a typical 'new age Clancy' pushing his political wheelbarror, which I do not mind, but I do think it is a bit much to ask people to buy a book and then preach your political ideology to them. I actually had three goes at reading this book. For the next Clancy book, I think I'll just read the blurbs and comments on Amazon

Yet another profoundly disappointing Clancy thriller. The last section of the book, involving a hostage crisis in Russia and a face off in Pakistan, somewhat helps, but not by much. Clancy's political leanings show themselves too much, and it hurts the book. The book might have been better served by dropping the domestic politics angle completely and concentrating solely on the nuclear arms theft and blackmail story.
