Add a CommentI thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Having read a number of Stephanie Plumb books, it was good to find out how she came to be in the business of a Bounty Hunter. I like the fast pace of Janet's books, and the use of humour to lighten up the storylines. She is an excellent writer, and am looking forward to reading her latest book.
The character Stephanie Plum is hilarious in this series. She gets herself into so many interesting predicaments. Of course Ranger and Joe Morelli sounds like real good looking and sexy characters! I would recommend this series to anyone who like humor and quirky characters in their reading.
Don't judge a book by its movie. Read the book. Button Factory vs. Bounty Hunter. You decide.
The series has a lot of appeal for many readers and I think that is why it's so iconic. 1) It is a ongoing immense series that has not slowed momentum. This is attractive to readers who can't get enough of one particular author or series. Janet Evanovich readers know that there will always be a book in the works, and that their wait is short. 2)The ever evolving and changing cast of characters and awkward obstacles bring light hearted comedic elements to this series that will have you dying with laughter. 3) This series has elements of erotic romances that give it a rom-com feel. There are several handsome romantic interests that support the plot movement, and continuously show up through out the series for fan service. 4) The contemporary setting in New Jersey is unexpected and brilliant. It gives you those nostalgic mob moments.
There are many more reasons to pick this series up, but those are the most prevalent in my mind.
A little unrealistic for my taste.....Got to Chapter 4. It was recommended to me. I may attempt at another time, but too many other interesting books to read.
Have you ever thought what kind of woman would become a bounty hunter? Then this might be the book for you. This is a flashback to the late 80s early 90s complete with cordless phones and spandex shorts, and is the first in the popular Stephanie Plum novels. This is a gritty story with a strong protagonist.
Was really reading this just to say I had. By the end it had grown on me but I almost stopped reading partway through the first chapter due to some graphic situations.
A quick and easy, yet fun read. We're not talking mind expansion or literary craftsmanship, but for entertainment value, Janet Evanovich really nails it. A very sordid tale out of the lower-income 'burbs of New Jersey-- lowbrow fun.
After catching the trailer for the movie, I was intrigued and I thought I would first give the book a read. It is first in the series about Stephanie Plum, a down-on-her-luck girl who decides to take up bountyhunting to make ends meet. Though some of it is dated because it was originally written in the 1990’s, most of it is still relevant. It is a good light-hearted mystery which makes me want to read the entire series. Definitely worth a look if you hadn’t read it before. (submitted by SC)
This book was amazing! I just love the way Evanovich writes, and being more of a fantasy romance reader, I wasn't sure initially if I would enjoy this book, I was very wrong! One for the Money had me captivated and in fits of laughter. It had a good storyline and fun characters.
