Add a CommentThis book is great because it demonstrates the physical structures of animals by relating them to clothing. That's science! I used it in my kindergarten art class, and some of the students made connections to the animals' habitats, and extended the principles to species not mentioned in the book. We all laughed and they loved the book!
Not only does it point to animal structures, but alludes to human structures as well.
It was recommended to me by our excellent children's librarian, and I will use it every year!
The pictures were fun, but my kids and I would have appreciated something tying them together (a story - or even an overarching poem/rhyme). They never requested a reread and it made it back to the library without renewal.
Find out how ridiculous it is when a camel wears a hat or when a snake wears pants. So hilarious that your 3-5 year old will be in hysterics.
So glad to have a reason to "not" put clothes on my animals! ;-)
Animal silliness for the preschool set. The text and illustrations complement each other perfectly, and the book provides many opportunites for children to talk with their caregivers about different animals and how they live.
One of the best! A humorous collection of images about why animals would look silly wearing clothes. Simple, attractive and funny. But it doesn't say why humans don't also look silly in clothes.
The pictures are very funny, not really a story, so much as funny lines to go along with the illustrations.
