According to Dan Baker, happiness brings together a healthy outlook on life, physical and mental wellness, a sense of spirituality and personal fulfillment gained through acts of altruism and kindness. His book, "What Happy People Know," guides readers in shaping a happy, meaningful life by providing tools for attaining self-awareness, gratitude and joy.

The book does not aim to "cure" its readers' pasts; rather, it focuses on building on individual strengths to sustain and enrich their lives. Baker writes in a conversational, first-person style and does not lapse into academic lingo. No standard psychobabble self-help text exists here, just clear guidance and universal advice enhanced by Baker's wealth of personal experience.
