This is a very detailed Biography of Barbara Hutton, the granddaughter of F W Woolworth. Her mother was the daughter of Woolworth and married F Hutton--one of the brothers who started the E F Hutton Brokerage firm. Barbara married 7 times and each marriage ended in divorce. She had one child, a son, Lance, who dies at a young age in a plane crash. Barbara was generous to a fault but she "bought" her relationships and made poor marital decisions. At one time, her net worth was over $42 million dollars. The depression did very little to her net worth. Her spending was legendary and she ended up an alcoholic, anorexic drug addict. Bottom line: money does not buy happiness.
