Overall, the sequel to the original How to Train Your Dragon movie was well done. The story line was unique and creative, and there was a lot of adventure and action that kept you entertained. I always enjoy seeing the original characters, who are quirky and have a fun dynamic. I appreciated seeing more of Hiccup’s life, and discovering his Mother, but I wasn’t a fan of how the movie ended. It is definitely emotional, and bittersweet, but I prefer the first film’s ending much better. Still, I would recommend this movie to other viewers, although it was unequal to the excellence and entertainment of the first film. 3/5

best so far so exited to see httyd 3

Wow, I did not expect I would ever rate this movie this highly, but it actually earns it. Character growth, impressive visuals, honest dialogue, genuine humor, a compelling plot, and real consequences. A lot of popular, particularly Disney, movies get away with fake-out deaths or high stakes that never truly endanger the protagonists by dint of being protagonists; not so in HTTYD2, where the repercussions for failure are all too real. I enjoyed watching this movie.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 is a solid movie, with a gorgeous aesthetic. The scenes are beautifully animated and have great sound tracks to match. Many scenes invoke strong emotions and help immerse the viewer into this fantastical world. There are some points in movie that will be lost of viewers if they have not seen the TV series such as the time skip between this movie and the first. The movies plot twist, I found dull and slightly predictable. The final confrontation also felt cheap with an almost "deus ex machina" conclusion. How To Train Your Dragon 2 isn't a bad movie by any means, but I feel that it isn't the sequel that the original deserved. Rating: 3 out of 5

As you all probably know, the first movie was amazing and honestly, this one was just as good. We got to see the characters develop even further and omg Toothless got even cuter. The animation was amazing and was very well made. But this movie is a little sad as well, which is a good thing because it was able to bring emotion. Some animated movies are really lame and the problem that the characters face isn't interesting but this is not the case for this movie. I showed this movie to my friends and little cousins and they all loved it just like I did. I totally recommend this movie to kids aged 4-12. I give this movie a 4.7 out of 5 stars. Go give this movie a watch, you will not be disappointed.

I thought the first one was fantastic, then this one flew right down and blasted away the competition! But it is not just that How to Train Your Dragon 2 has amazing action scenes, an awessome villain with a giant pet dragon, and that the animation is miles ahead of the first one. It is because How to Train Your Dragon 2 is full of emotion, and a great lesson along the way. The scene where Stoik dies was a real gut wrencher, and you could clearly see that in the characters. Some shows have the cast mourn a little bit and quickly move on, but in this movie, they have a flippin ceromony for the guy. The life lesson I mentioned before is when Hiccup realized that his true destiny is to become chief of his village, but also make peace with the dragons. It sends a great message about doing what is right, and protecting who you love. That right there just melts your heart. The one thing I wished to see in this movie, are some of the cast from the prequel series Dragons: Race to the Edge, that was made to happen right before the events in this movie. It would have been great to see Dagur and Heather leading a charge against Drago, or even the A Team to assemble once again to help fight with the main riders at the Bewilderbeast's nest. But besides that, I highly recommend to watch HTTYD 2, for which it is burning with Nordic Fun! @BooksRUs of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Cool movie. I find myself watching it again and again.

I can't beleive their going to make a third movie. I don't think it's going to be very good, judging by the trailer.

Best movie of all and it is my favourite movie in the world in Dream works.I can't believe it,I was really surprised that Hiccup has a mother and it's making me sad that Hiccup's dad was dead in the battle. And I watched it doing Winter Break for Christmas Eve. :)

I enjoyed the refreshing first movie better. This second film is also creatively entertaining, but the frantic editing and unrelenting action disrupts emotional continuity and character development. Kids may appreciate it better than adults.

If you liked the first instalment you'll love this one. It's been five years since young Hiccup united Vikings with their one time enemies the dragons and life couldn't be better. Instead of warring with one another man and lizard now live in happy partnership with dragon races and carnivals replacing harpoons and fire bombs. But trouble is looming in the form of Drago Bloodfist, a mad pirate intent on taking over the world with his army of fire-breathing leviathans and only Hiccup stands between him and his insane scheme. Impeccable animation featuring crazy aerial battles as well as a few surprisingly poignant scenes (Hiccup is reunited with someone he thought gone forever even as another loved one is tragically lost) make this a surefire hit for adults and kids alike. And keep your ears open or you'll miss an oh-so-subtle allusion to one of the first animated gay characters ever!

This movie was good and there was a lot of awesome dragons. The beginning of the film was great but the middle and end was lacking and a big moment in the movie seemed really random and I wasn't satisfied with it. Over all it was good but not as great as the first one.

Maybe even better than the first! I loved the action in this one. The emotional scenes were done well, and the humor was GREAT. Made me laugh. :D I will say that after the, ahem, plot twist about 3/4 into the movie (which I will not spoil, as it is rather crucial), I wasn't as interested in the rest of the movie to finish because of the emotional depth of the scene. I just...I kind of lost interest after that point. But that's just my opinion. Otherwise, a great movie!

Such a good movie! It does have a few violent scenes but it is still a good movie for everyone. Wonderful movie!

Very colorful and with great animation. However, after a while the `dragon` scenes - too many of them and all in outrageous shapes - begin to give me a feeling of excess. The story in the first film is better, too.

This movie is very well made, has a compelling story, but is geared towards older children than the first one due to some violent scenes which may be too scary for toddlers.
